Azure CSP Reservations — Fully Supported

We’re pleased to announce that we have completed support for Azure Reserved Virtual Machine (VM) Instances for Cloud Solution Providers (CSPs). We previously announced support for CSP Reservations in the RI Optimizer. Now, all reports and invoices will accurately report on reservation usage and purchases.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure — Private Beta

We’re pleased to announce that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) support is available in private beta. Features available in the private beta include:

  • OCI cost information in dashboards

  • OCI cost history in the CloudHealth Cost History Report

  • Detailed usage for OCI compute shape resources in the Compute Usage Report (coming soon)

  • Perspectives based on tags

If you’re interested in this private beta, please email cloudhealth-OCI@groups.vmware.com to determine eligibility.

AWS Savings Plans Amortization — Now Available

We’re pleased to announce that AWS Savings Plans amortization is released and incorporated into the Amortized Cost measure in the CloudHealth Cost History and Amortization Reports. This enhancement gives you the option to report as a single one time fee, or as an amortized cost measure spread out over the lifetime of the discount that can be associated to usage and grouped into Perspectives.

EC2 Metrics Collection from Custom CloudWatch Namespaces

Until now, we have offered the ability to collect and use standard CloudWatch metrics (i.e. CPU and Network Usage) for EC2 reporting and optimization in CloudHealth. Now, we’re taking it a step further and are proud to announce the availability of the support for EC2 Custom CloudWatch Metrics (i.e. Disk and Memory Usage via CloudWatch Agent).

To start collecting EC2 disk and memory metrics from custom Namespaces, you simply need to install the CloudWatch Agent in your EC2 instances with default configuration, and enable the integration by selecting the appropriate namespaces on the CloudHealth Account Setup Page.

Once an account has Namespaces, the data will appear in CloudHealth for use in functionality such as EC2 Rightsizing. If you haven’t already been using our CloudWatch integration, you’ll also need to enable the CloudWatch integration and provide the following IAM permissions to our assumed role.

  • cloudwatch:GetMetricData

  • cloudwatch:ListMetrics
