Snapshot & Compare in ML Powered Forecasting – General Availability

Tanzu CloudHealth’s Machine Learning-powered Forecasting helps predict future spending (up to 36 months) by analyzing historical spending and evaluating future plans, with a suite of ML algorithms trained on multiple parameters that considers periodicity, seasonality, and changes in your cloud infrastructure or application lifecycle.

Today, we are pleased to introduce a key functionality called “Snapshot & Compare” that is now generally available, which offers the ability to:

  • Take a snapshot of a forecast generated with desired parameters, with the values of those parameters and additional filters captured in the snapshot for future reference

  • Compare up to three saved forecast snapshots

To save a forecast snapshot, click on the Actions button in the top right corner of the Forecasting page after you’ve input your desired parameters, filters, and growth factor. Saved snapshots and their associated details can be viewed under the same Actions button. Snapshots can be compared by selecting them from the list of saved snapshots and selecting the compare option at the top of the page.

Kubernetes (Request-Based) Rightsizing for GCP – Public Beta

We are excited to announce the public beta release of Kubernetes (request-based) Rightsizing for GCP. This is an addition to existing capability of Kubernetes Rightsizing on AWS & Azure ensuring the feature is available on three major public clouds. Built on our new framework, Kubernetes Rightsizing provides recommendations for changing container Requests based on usage of CPU and memory, including:

  • Custom Efficiency Targets: Users can customize these recommendations by setting specific targets for CPU and Memory. Users can choose to use CPU/Memory Averages or Maxes and set a desired range from 1% to 120% for each metric.

  • Filtering: Users can filter by cluster, namespace, or workload to drill down and look at a sub-set of resources.

  • FlexOrgs Aware: Kubernetes Rightsizing Recommendations work with FlexOrgs, so users in sub-Organizational Units can only see and act on clusters for which they have permission.

Updates to Containers Navigation Menu

We are announcing a refreshed container navigation menu and making it easier to navigate the Kubernetes Reports in Tanzu CloudHealth. Under Reports, the previous drop-down section named “Containers” will now be listed as “Kubernetes” and will include refreshed report navigation. Changes will apply to all clouds, with a small variation for AWS only as detailed below:

All Clouds, under the updated “Kubernetes” drop-down section in Reports:

  • Overview

  • Containers Usage

  • Nodes Usage

  • Cost History

  • Allocation(Classic)

  • Resources(Classic)

  • Cost History (Classic)

For AWS only, there will be an additional section for ECS. This section will include the reports for:

  • Usage

  • Cost History

Note: As a reminder, these reports were deprecated on January 25, but existing users will continue to have access to them for one year after the deprecation date.
