AWS Commitment Discount Recommendations – General Availability

We are pleased to announce the general availability of AWS Commitment Discount Recommendations. This new feature offers insight into costs and reveals potential savings for reservable services, as well as sortable columns and the ability to view usage metrics for each recommendation. The following reservable services from AWS are included in this feature:

  • ElastiCache

  • OpenSearch

  • Redshift

  • DynamoDB

Please note that recommendations for AWS EC2 and RDS are available in the platform through existing tools.

Recommendations are generated for all instances for which AWS offers commitment discounts by Tanzu CloudHealth algorithms, and the data from the commitment-based discounts is available via a GraphQL API. Additionally, these recommendations work with FlexOrgs, so users in sub-organizational units can view recommendations only for the subscriptions to which they have access.

To access AWS Commitment Discount Recommendations, navigate to AWS > Recommendations > Commitment Discounts. For more information, please refer to the documentation.

Savings Automator: Purchase Recommendations Action - Public Beta

We are pleased to announce the public beta of the action to purchase recommendations for AWS Savings Plans. This update provides an additional action in the Savings Automator to purchase recommendations that are made, adding to existing capabilities to reuse, merge, or boost convertible RIs and Savings Plans. Please note that unlike other actions, the action to purchase recommendations can not be automated in its current public beta phase.

Purchase recommendations are generated based on the key performance indicators (KPIs) derived from the commitment preferences that are configured in the Savings Automator. These KPIs are then measured against remaining on-demand resource usage. Clicking on each purchase recommendation provides more details on the action, including an overview of settings, effective savings rate, total coverage, spend and save estimates, and a chart showing on-demand and commitment costs. By default, the purchase recommendations are generated at the billing account level. For more information, please refer to the documentation.

Dark Theme Option

Users can now choose between "dark" and "light" CloudHealth themes. Dark theme can be enabled by toggling the theme switcher from the UI. Themes are set per user and are not tied to tenant settings.

Users can find the theme switcher by clicking on their username in the top right corner of any screen, and clicking " Switch to dark theme" or "Switch to light theme" to set the desired preference.
