Support for Amazon ECS Fargate

We've recently added collection and reporting for Elastic Container Service (ECS) Fargate instances. This asset type is now available for reporting costs specific to Fargate spend. You can create a perspective for ECS Fargate tasks (serverless compute) using AWS tags attached to those assets. CloudHealth will now automatically distribute Fargate assets and associated costs to Perspective groups so that a given perspective could be used for chargeback/showback and filtering reports.

In the Cost History Report, you will be able to see 'EC2 Container Service - Fargate Compute, Memory, and Data Transfer' service items under 'Amazon Elastic Container Service - Direct'. You can drill down from the cost history report to review Fargate resource details. 'Synthetic id' column will be available in the drilldown report to indicate the aggregation of Fargate resources/tasks based on tags and other relevant columns. You will be able to view spend related to Fargate tasks effective from current month onwards and historical data will not be available. Learn more about this feature in this Help Center Article.

Support for GCP in FlexReports

We’re excited to announce that CloudHealth FlexReports now support the GCP billing export dataset. Previously, you were only able to create reports with data from AWS Cost and Usage Reports (CUR) and Azure EA datasets. Now, you will have an option to select AWS CUR, Azure EA, or GCP billing export and evaluate costs using various dimensions and filter criteria.

The FlexOrgs organization hierarchy will be applicable to GCP billing export data, and FlexOrgs is available as a 'dimension' in FlexReports for the GCP dataset. Using this dimension, you can slice and dice data, segregated based on immediate child/sub orgs (one level down) of the organization in context. Learn more about support for the GCP dataset in this Help Center Article.

Upgrade your Organizations to FlexOrgs

Interested in upgrading to FlexOrgs, but need some assistance to make the transition? You can now upgrade from your current organizations to FlexOrgs using the Upgrade Organization feature. This capability allows you to upgrade on a per-organization basis and automatically migrate the content in the organization, including saved reports, subscriptions, policies, budgets, users, and user roles. Learn more about the Upgrade Organization feature in the Help Center, and reach out to your TAM to assess your organization composition and plan your upgrade.

Databricks Workspaces Expanded Asset Support

We are happy to announce additional support around Databricks Workspaces. You can now allocate these in Perspectives and have the costs follow. For customers with rules on Azure Taggable Asset or Resource Group, these costs are already allocating. In addition to Perspective support, we have also released support for tagging policies.

Update to IAM Policy for AWS Savings Plan Purchasing

In previous CloudHealth release announcements, different IAM policies were recommended for different capabilities at different points in time that may have led to some confusion. To help clarify, the Help Center information for Savings Plan Purchasing has been updated.

IAM Policies required for Savings Plans Purchases:

  • "savingsplans:CreateSavingsPlan"

  • "savingsplans:DescribeSavingsPlansOfferings"

IAM Policy required to view a list of Savings Plans in asset reports:

  • “savingsplans:DescribeSavingsPlans”

For a complete list of all policies required for read purposes and visibility for reporting see this Help Center article.
