We are continuing to add incremental support for Actual Cost in Rightsizing recommendations, and are excited to introduce this capability for AWS ElastiCache today as generally available. By making “Actual cost” accessible as a cost type, users can view rightsizing recommendations based on the following two pricing methods:
List price - View recommendations based on the listed on-demand price for the service/instance.
Actual Cost - View recommendations based on the actual usage cost. The recommendations consider the discounts or pricing impacts on the source instance that result from commitment discounts. Any discounts for current instances will be considered within the recommendation.

To provide users with additional context when evaluating opportunities to rightsize AWS EC2 instances, we have added new columns for Instance State, Region, Launch Date, and Total Hours. These columns are now available in the Rightsizing Dashboard for AWS EC2. In addition, these columns will be available when exporting recommendations outside the platform and via API, as well as additional columns that don’t appear in the UI for Operating System, Autoscaling Group Name, and Tags.

The Operational Monthly Savings widget in the AWS & Azure Health Check Pulse Report will now show the savings (based on List Price) that result from recommendations generated by the New Rightsizing engine. This change replaces the results that were previously generated by Classic Rightsizing. As previously announced, Classic Rightsizing will be deprecated on July 1, 2024.
