Dynatrace Integration – Public Beta

We are excited to announce the public beta for Dynatrace integration with VMware Aria Cost. Dynatrace is now integrated with both AWS and Azure, providing comprehensive metrics collection for Memory and Disk usage (File system). These metrics are accessible at hourly and daily granularity through the rightsizing recommendations. You can also find them in performance reports and the metrics view within the asset report - offering hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly granularities.

To leverage the recommendations for migrating to different instance types, customers need to configure a Dynatrace account specifically for their instances. Please refer to this documentation for more details.

Amazon EBS Rightsizing – Public Beta

We are pleased to announce the public beta release of our new Amazon EBS Rightsizing. EBS is a scalable, highly performant block storage solution from AWS and is one of their most popular services.

Our new EBS Rightsizing feature generates recommendations to move to a cheaper volume type and/or better provision your input/output operations per second (IOPS) and throughput based on your current usage characteristics. Complete with a new user interface, this feature delivers:

  • Cost and savings summaries

  • Customizable efficiency targets for IOPS and throughput utilization

  • Ability to drill down into each recommendation to view usage and see up to 3 alternative volume options

Data from our new rightsizing engine is available via a GraphQL API that enables you to programmatically set efficiency targets and consume recommendations. Learn more about EBS Rightsizing here.

Amazon ElastiCache Rightsizing – Public Beta

We are introducing our new Amazon ElastiCache Rightsizing tool in public beta! Amazon ElastiCache allows you to seamlessly set up, run, and scale an in-memory cache in the cloud, and it is compatible with both Redis and Memcached.

Built on our new rightsizing engine, our new ElastiCache Rightsizing feature generates recommendations in seconds and offers up to 3 recommendations to optimize each cache cluster. Complete with a new user interface, this feature delivers cost and savings summaries, upsizing recommendations, customizable efficiency targets for CPU and Freeable Memory, and the ability to drill down into each cluster to view usage and recommendation details.

Data from our new rightsizing engine is available via a GraphQL API that enables you to programmatically set efficiency targets and consume recommendations. Learn more about ElastiCache Rightsizing here.

Update to Anomaly Detection Root Cause Analysis

We are excited to announce that VMware Aria Cost Anomaly Detection Root Cause Analysis (RCA) now supports Azure Perspectives. A user can go to the root cause analysis page for the selected anomaly, filter down to Perspective groups, and identify the anomaly's origin.

Support for New AWS Region

AWS support for the new region, ap-southeast-2, is now available when configuring an account. This region is used to validate the read-only IAM Access policy for the account for test access.

Export User List

You can now export your full user list under Setup > Admin > User Groups > Users, for purposes of auditing or user management. The export includes ID, Name, Email, Last Sign In, and Last Activity.

Deprecation of Azure VM RI Amortization Report

The Azure VM RI Amortization report has been deprecated. Customers will no longer be able to access this report. All the functionality in the Azure VM RI Amortization Report has been migrated to the standard Amortized Cost Report, which customers should use moving forward.
