Partner | Deprecating IAM User Authentication - Coming Soon

AWS best practices include the use of Assumed Roles instead of Account or IAM Users Credentials. Accounts setup with IAM Users in the CloudHealth platform can be considered a security risk. We (along with AWS) strongly recommend setting up accounts with IAM Roles. As a result, we will be sun setting the ability to use the IAM User authentication mechanism for new tenants. Changes related to this deprecation will arrive on the platform early next week. Any tenants created after that time will not be able to make use of IAM User authentication.

New Azure Indirect Costs

We have added indirect cost categorization for Azure VMware Solution by CloudSimple, Azure NetApp Files, and SQL Database LTR Backup Storage. These services are now represented as their own Indirect Costs, which can be assigned to Perspective Groups using Cost Reallocation Rules. Previously, these charges were included under Indirect Service item ‘Other.’

Update to Azure VM Rightsizing

We have made the following improvements to our VM rightsizing formula:

  • For in-family recommendations, we will use the On-Demand hourly rate for that instance type instead of the effective rate (which includes reservation discounts). Because of size flexibility in reservations, we can assume those reservations will continue to apply to that new instance.

  • We will now make cross-family recommendations even if metrics (e.g. Memory) are missing. As a reminder, if we are missing a metric, we will assume 99% utilization for that metric.

  • We introduced a Notes column that gives you additional visibility into why we are, or are not, making a recommendation. If the usage warrants it, there may also be additional recommendations for instance types that fit the usage but do not receive the same price savings. Note: this is not currently a default column. To see it, you’ll need to use Edit Columns to bring it in.

Update to Amazon S3 Reporting

We have added support for One Zone Infrequent Access (IA) in our Cost, Usage, and Metrics Reports for Amazon S3. We now have additional Y-Axis measures for One Zone IA Storage, One Zone IA Overhead, One Zone IA Transition Requests, and One Zone IA Retrieval in the S3 Cost and Usage Reports. Also, in the S3 Metrics Report, we’re introducing four new columns (Max, Min, Avg, and Sum) for each of these usage types.

Update to User Interface Navigation - Reminder

In the next couple of weeks, you will notice a new user interface for the top and side navigation bars in the CloudHealth platform. This change will introduce more consistency across our software portfolio and will help make navigation more intuitive. You will also see a slight change in the naming of the Cloud Tab titles to be more focused on cloud related offerings.

Please note that the navigation of CloudHealth will not fundamentally change with this update. You will not lose access to any functionality nor have we changed the access to any part of the application.
