GCP Cost History with BigQuery and Policy - General Availability

We’re pleased to announce the general availability of the GCP Cost History Report that is based on the Usage Start Time in BigQuery, to give better insight into your daily costs. With data that is now more than 36 hours newer than the previous report based on the billing CSV, this new report can be used to track your daily, weekly, and monthly costs. Most importantly, this report is the first step in releasing support for allocating and filtering costs by labels added at the resource level. You can also create a policy to alert based off of the totals in this report.

To use this feature, you will need to configure the BigQuery billing export and be using a JSON service account key for billing collection. If you have not done that yet, please view this Help Center article.

Deprecating IAM User Authentication Coming Soon

AWS best practices include the use of Assumed Roles instead of Account or IAM Users Credentials. Accounts setup with IAM Users in the CloudHealth platform can be considered a security risk. We (along with AWS) strongly recommend setting up accounts with IAM Roles. As a result, we will be sun setting the ability to use the IAM User authentication mechanism for new accounts configured. Changes related to this deprecation will arrive on the platform early next week. Any accounts configured after that time will not be able to make use of IAM User authentication.

New AWS Indirect Costs

We have added indirect cost categorization for Amazon Interactive Video Service. This service is now represented as its own Indirect Cost Item, which can be assigned to Perspective Groups using Cost Reallocation Rules. Previously, these charges were included under indirect service item - ‘Other’.
