Cost Allocation Support for Amazon Simple Queue Service

For Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS), we now use the tags and resource ID from your AWS bills to automatically allocate costs and assets to the appropriate Perspective groups. These assets will be picked automatically by the Perspectives built for ‘Amazon Taggable Assets’ or ‘SQS Queues’ asset types. This allocation is applicable to the past 13 months as well.

We have also updated the cost distribution of SQS. Charges for SQS were included in the ‘Amazon Simple Queue Service’ indirect cost. Now, the charges associated with SQS are distributed into the following direct charges:

  • SQS - Standard Queues

  • SQS - FIFO Queues

  • SQS - Data Transfer

And the following indirect charges:

  • SQS - API

  • SQS - Data Transfer

  • SQS - Other

We recommend that you update your reallocation rules for ‘Amazon Simple Queue Service’ indirect charges to adapt to this change.

Deprecation of Legacy GCP Cost History and Compute Engine Cost Reports

We will be deprecating the billing CSV backed Cost History and Compute Engine Cost Reports on February 26th in favor of the BigQuery backed reports. At that time, we will stop collecting new billing CSV data. These reports will still be available for historical purposes for some time after.

Please note that you will need to recreate cost and budget policies to use one of the BigQuery backed reports, as well as any saved reports off the CSV backed Cost History.

If you have not yet configured BigQuery, this means costs will stop flowing into the platform. You will need to configure the BigQuery billing export and be using a JSON service account key for billing collection. If you have not done that yet, please view this Help Center article
